Color Theory for my Toddler's Room

When I was pregnant with my daughter I spent the majority of my time researching concepts like color theory for the perfect baby room color, and human behavior for the magic spell to a happy, healthy child. I read child development text books from my room mate's graduate school psychology classes, and I asked my doula a question a day about habits and practices.

I learned through a friend in med school about how a baby can be conditioned in the womb through stimulation. For instance, a baby is likely to be more friendly if strangers talk to and rub the belly, so every person who showed interest was encouraged to talk to and rub my belly. I learned that a baby can be conditioned to sit lower in the womb if a bag of ice is rested on the chest every time the baby is too high. Eventually, the baby learns that sitting lower in the womb provides a warmer, cozier spot. And I learned that orange as an environment's signature color can encourage creativity and spontaneity.

I was developing a friendly, considerate, creative, spontaneous child. Or I was trying to. Sage Osprey Maeve is all of those, whether by my influence on her, the power of persuasion, or by simple fate. She is two now, and we are in the process of moving into a smaller house in a better neighborhood. Our house on Egan Street has almost eaten us, the beautiful monster that it is, and North Highland doesn't provide the right school for Sage. Though I have enjoyed learning about the behavior of crack-heads and prostitutes, my little girl does not need to know anything about it.

For her next bedroom color, I am looking at greens. Justin and I are in love with a deep, almost-grey, olive green. It is perfect for the kitchen or the entrance hallway, but could be disconcerting for Sage. For her, I am looking for a universal green, like grass and leaves, to influence nature, youth and generosity. I want her to believe in fairies and to fall in love with the world from a bug's eye view.

I am looking for suggestions from you for the perfect, universal green paint. Post your suggestions as comments, and if I choose a color you suggest I will award a coupon to be used on any Vintage Lifestyle item or Apropos Peacocks necklace in my shop. I am looking forward to the fresh ideas each of you bring! Hey, maybe you can help me paint . . .
